1/24/10 - Healing for Haiti
I just spent 15 minutes participating in Healing for Haiti. William Lee Rand's International organization for Reiki energy workers asked every Reiki practitioner to spend 15 minutes between 4 and 4:15 p.m today sending Reiki energy to Haiti.
Being a mother, I guess it makes sense that I feel the most connection, the most sorrow, for the women who lost children as a result of the earthquake. Caring for children can be difficult during the best of times. The burden of their welfare can seem overwhelming. Imaging the women who held their children while they died, or who couldn't locate their children under the rubble… these are thoughts that have driven me to tears. I can't help but see my face and the faces of my children in this unthinkable tragedy. I suppose that's why I felt called to participate in this international healing practice.
I immediately noticed the familiar throbbing in my palms as I positioned my hands toward the south and asked the energy of the universe to ease the suffering of all those affected by the devastating earthquake on January 12th. It was a comfort to know that many energy workers throughout the world were participating in this practice together, all during the 4-4:15 window in their individual time zones.
There's so much work to be done. It's important to know that you don't have to be an energy worker to send healing energy. Our very thoughts are energy. Pause for a moment today to send positive thoughts to Haiti, both to the people affected by the earthquake and to the wonderful people who have been led to assist them. Together, we really can make a difference.
